King William County is located about 35 miles northeast of Richmond, Virginia. The county was formed in 1702 out of King and Queen County. The Courthouse built in 1725 is the oldest Courthouse in continuous use in the United States. Contains a total area of 286 square miles and is bound by the Mattaponi River to the north and Pamunkey River to the south. The two rivers combine to form the York River, at West Point, the county's largest town. King William in 2003 ranked 22 in population growth in the state of Virginia.

360 East By way of Richmond

From Mechanicsville traveling east toward Tappahannock, go approximately 18 miles to the intersection of Routes 30 and 360.  At this traffic light, turn right onto Rt. 30 toward West Point for approximately 7 miles.  At the Post Office (Horse Landing Road - Rt. 619), turn left.  The office is located in the County Administration Building just past the Historic Courthouse.

I-64 East or West

Take exit 220 to Route 33, to West Point.  After crossing the bridge, get into the left lane.  At the traffic light, turn left on Rt. 30 and continue on for approximatly 17 miles to Rt. 619 (Horse Landing Road).  Turn right (this is prior to the Post Office).  The office is located in the County Administration Building just past the Historic Courthouse.
